Crafty moments

Last Christmas, I really made some effort and pushed my creative side to a certain level. I wanted to give the kids in my classes real unique presents, something made with TLC. So, I decided to custom-make photo frames for each kid.

NotesI bought some wooden frames from IKEA and hopped into the nearest hardware store near my place to get the aerosol spray paint. I got some ideas of decorating the frames with foam papers and plastic jewels. Luck was on my side when I found some really nice and ready-cut foam shapes and the ‘jewels’ at very economical prices.

I went home and put on my workshop apron and started spraying away! Oh what a great time I had. I never thought that crafting is so much fun!

My living room suddenly turned into a temporary workshop, all adorned with old newspapers spread on the floor and remnants of the red and blue paint sprinkled onto the newspapers. It took me a couple of days to actually clean up the entire living room.

I was so excited with my project during Christmas last year. I think this year, I’m going to cook up some other stuffs for the kids. Hope that I can keep the zesty spirit in me by then. *smiles*

. . .

Well, for those of you planning to get a gift for a friend or your kids, why not giving a handmade item?

I love DIY stuff and handmade gifts. I think they’re the best kind of all! I love what you’ve made and would like to try them out and put pictures of Buddy and Allie in them. I just gotta find those 4R wooden frames. :) Thanks, sweetie!

Those look pretty good. I agree with Shemah, the best gifts are handmade, but then I’m just too lazy to make them myself (also the fact that I got no talent some more … ;) I end up buying all my gifts … hehehe …

SweetMamaShemah : Yes, you go ahead and make them for your kids. It’ll be cool. You can get them from IKEA. Ask your sis to buy them for you lah.

Monica : Show them to me once you tried it, kay?

Nick : I would love to buy all the gifts but I’m too poor for that, you see. *winks*

Kay : I am? *scratches head*

anttyk : errr…when you enrol into my classes, probably I’ll make you one this year. Hehehe!

Pei Len : You also want ah?

ethel : You can get the foam stickers from TESCO. All cut out and ready to stick. Or can make them from foam papers. I think you can get them from Popular Bookstore.
