Piak! Piak! Piak!

Monday, July 30, 2007

Just woke up…groggy…after a quick nap. Was really sleepy this afternoon. The buzz of the handphone woke me up from my nap. Had no idea where I was for a moment. Totally groggy.

As I staggered to get up from bed, my hands naturally reached for my glasses. I put them on.

Wait a minute! What is wrong? I just cleaned them but they seemed to have some dirt or something. Everything was so blurry!

I took them off and wiped them with my t-shirt. Put them on again and images were still blurry. Rubbed my eyes till it hurt. Started to panic. Conjured up thoughts of eye infections and surgeries. Gettin’ real panicky when suddenly, I blinked my eyes a couple of times without the glasses.

Forgot that I had my contact lenses on.

The Klutz

Introducing the world class KLUTZ..tada….it’s no other than the clumsy Blusher!!!!

Yep, was rushing to the loo for a quick pee when my right foot got caught the edge of the toilet door. It’s those plastic doors and the result from the clash…a deep gash in my foot and a sorta crooked looking toilet door. -_-’

hurts like crazy!

My feet looked horribly big and my nail polish needs to be touched up again! Sheesh!

The wound, after washing it with water.

I can’t believe it! Only a couple months ago, I fell while walking back to my apartment from the carpark. I was most unfortunate because I wore a skirt that day and it was raining so heavily that I slipped while crossing the pavement. Unfortunately, I was wearing my 2-inch wedges that day and it scraped my left shin and the whole leg got all bloody. I felt like my leg was broken or chopped off. Really, I kid you not!

Anyways, I’ve really been clumsy most of my life. Fell down the stairs and cracked my tail bone a couple of years back, tripping almost every time I come down the stairs (yeah, and I live on the 5th floor…walk-up too!)

Sometimes, I wonder if I’m born with two left foot or something. My co-ordination seems so bad. :-(

A Romantic Wedding

Sunday, July 29, 2007

Last Sunday, I attended a friend’s wedding at a pristine Spa Resort. It was meant to be a garden wedding, with the gazebo and flowers and stuffs. However, the dream wedding was somewhat perturbed a little when grey clouds formed and down came the rain.

Despite the gloomy weather outside, the wedding proceeded with gaiety and romance in the ballroom. It was a Christian wedding and there was the Ring Bearer and the Flower Girl. Everything was so perfect and I salute my friend, the bride, despite the minor adjustments with the reception, who continued to walk down the aisle with a sparkling and glowing look. She looked really radiant! Wished I could put her picture here but due to privacy purpose, I have decided not to put it up.

Anyways, they exchanged their vows with declaration of love and I couldn’t help but felt touched at the core of my heart. I actually teared! Wow! Suddenly, I understood why people cry at weddings. The bridegroom was so sincere and tender. I’m truly happy for my friend to have found a man who’s so full of love for her and possesses great humour.

This has been the most romantic wedding I’ve been to, so far. The atmosphere was serene and yet, romantic. The bride’s gown and hairdo was simple yet so elegant. The guests were gay yet respectful. It’s so unlike some Chinese weddings which I’ve been to, where the atmosphere was so noisy that we practically had to raise our voices to chat and the place was bombarded with uncles and aunties, singing karaoke. Yikes!

Well, cultures are different in so many ways, not that I’m looking down upon Chinese cultures or whatsoever. Oh..nothing of that sort. Just voicing a personal preference in celebrating a couple’s love and sacred communion.

Anyways, to JR & Nick : May you be blessed with humour and laughter in your marriage.

auf Wiedershen Harry Potter

Saturday, July 28, 2007

Yes, after two days of burying my nose between the pages of the book, I finally resurfaced back into our ‘Muggle’ world, with a tinge of dissatisfaction with the last book.

A year long of anticipation really fell flat with a splat with how it ended. I found the book to contain too many dramas and eyes-rolling cliché. But anyway, the frenzy of the long-awaited ending of the famous boy-wizard has finally peaked and soon, will die down. Will this world remember Potter, the bespectacled fictional character of a book? I’m sure I will.

Nevertheless, auf Wiedershen, Harry Potter, you have somewhat brought fantasy and excitement in my Muggle life. :-)

Giving is so rewarding

Friday, July 27, 2007

With this, I do not mean giving away your money or stuffs. I learnt today that the practice of giving, be it a small present, a praise or a pat on the back could mean a lot to the kids and perhaps, change something in them.

I’m a believer of positive encouragement and when this is done, the results would be doubled. I have had parents asking me to ‘force’ their kids to write better or to remember words better, and I realized, sad to say, many parents just continued to teach with the ’stick’ rule and without the ‘carrot’.

The kids were so happy with my little gifts today and it marked as a tangible achievement for their effort so far. One kid even puffed up with pride when I awarded him an Awesome Certificate for something positive he had always been doing, that is, staying cheerful all the time. I just can’t express how rewarding that felt in my heart.

If any of you with kids and have been practising positive motivation, please share with me, will ya?
